Forty-three Republican Senators sent a letter to Majority Leader Harry Reid today saying they WOULD NOT vote to increase the debt ceiling. Only four Republican Senators refused to sign the letter: Scott Brown (MA), Susan Collins (ME), Lisa Murkowski (AK), and Olympia Snowe (ME). Even if all of these remaining Republicans agreed to vote with the Democrats, Reid would not have the 60 votes he needs to end the Republican filibuster and move toward passage of debt ceiling/deficit reduction legislation.
