The sexual harassment charges don’t seem to hurting Cain
among Republican voters, at least so far.
According to a just released Washington Post-ABC News poll, Cain is
essentially tied with Romney for first place (24% Romney, 23% Cain). Perry and Gingrich are essentially tied for
second place (13% Perry, 12% Gingrich).
Cain gained 7 points in the poll since last month, the largest increase
of any candidate for the 10/2 to 11/3 period.
Gingrich gained 5 points. Romney’s
support remained essentially where it has been for months at 24%. Perry and all of the other candidates lost
support over the last month.
Cain’s continued rise in the polls may indicate that
Republican voters either don’t believe the harassment charges or don’t
care. It will be interesting to see if
poll results next month show a flattening or drop in Cain’s support, particular
if there are more developments in the harassment story. Stay tuned.
