Election Projection (EP) says based upon the most recent
polls that Obama would win the election with 303 electoral votes to 235 for
Romney if the election were held today.
EP says the Democrats would LOSE control of the Senate. Republicans are projected to gain seats in
Florida, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Wisconsin and hold Brown’s
seat in Mass. That would give
Republicans 52 seats in the Senate to 46 seats for Democrats with 2 Independents
(Maine and Vermont).
NOTE: The most recent Public Policy Poll in Mass has Democrat Warren leading Republican incumbent Brown 46% to 41% although other polls have shown Brown leading. See:
If Warren beat Brown, that would give Democrats and additional seat. Also, Bob Kerry may give Democrats a chance of retaining Ben Nelson's seat in Nebraska although Kerry's campaign has gotten off to a rough start. If Kerry and Warren won then Democrats would have 48 seats to 50 Republicans seats. See:
EP says the Republicans would RETAIN control of the House
with 243 seats to 192 for the Democrats.
Democrats are expected to gain 16 seats and lose 17. Republicans are projected to gain 14 seats
and lose 13.
