As expected the Senate defeated Republican Senator Roy Blunt’s
amendment to allow employers to refuse to cover any health services they
objected to on Religious or “moral” grounds.
The Amendment that was an outright attack on womens’ rights to access to
coverage of preventive health care and contraceptive coverage was rejected by a vote of 51 to 48, largely
along party lines with most Democrats voting to against the amendment and
nearly all Republicans voting in favor.
